Spring break & cakes...

This past week was Spring Break & we started it off right...with a nice fresh coating of snow & some ice :(  What???? Can't believe that!!! Once the snow cleared I was able to enjoy some time w/ my awesome niece, Ella. She came to our house on Monday afternoon for a sleep over. We played games, watched cartoons (she is only 7 afterall), did our nails, played in makeup, went to the park & had a small pizza party with David on his lunch break (pizza is one of her fav foods) Sigh...it was so much fun!!!

Unfortunately play time had to stop so I could get going on some cakes...they were due on Friday this week so that has left my Saturday free. That doesn't happen very often so I am taking full advantage of it :) Hope you like them...

Pooch-Friendly Recipe...

Hello to all my blogger friends!!! I usually get on here to post cake pics & (if I have time) share a little bit about what's been going on in our world but today is a little different. I am here to share with you a super fun, furry friend friendly, recipe I found while enjoying my new Cake Central Magazine.

Many of you, like myself, have a pet or pets that are just like members of the family. Here is my little Millie...isn't she just the cutest???

Summer 2009

Try this out next time you want to celebrate a pets birthday or just to give them a treat :) Happy baking!!!!!!!

Pooch-Friendly Peanut Butter Carrot Cake:
1 Cup Flour
1 tsp Vanilla
1/3 Cup Honey
1 Egg
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Sugar Free Peanut Butter
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1 Cup Shredded Carrots
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F & greese pan. Thoroughly mix ingredients together, then scoop into cupcake or cake pan. Bake 20-30 minutes.
*** Cake will be denser than your average "human" cake

For Frosting:
12 oz Fat - Free Cream Cheese
3 tsp Honey
Mix until light & fluffy & spread thin layer over your cake or cupcakes.

Your dog will go crazy for this!!! I'll post my regular cake pics in a few days :) Until then....

Hello to all my blog friends! Starting January 3rd (& going on into the beginning of February) it turned into a winter wonder land around here (the snow hasn't completely melted in some spots). Since we are not used to this kind of weather things shut down for a couple of days & we were able to gather w/ friends & family to have a snow day party...it was lots of fun!!!

The guys took turns being pulled behind the 4-wheeler on various items. David (my hubby) chose a small sled for his fun :)

Dave (my bro-in-law) trys to whip around a corner really fast to see how well David is holding on

There he goes!!!! hahahahaha!!! Boys will be boys ;)

Ok, now for some cakes...here's what I've done so far in February - enjoy!!!

December Cakes...

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!! Things were pretty busy around here. Our festivities actually started the Saturday after Thanksgiving :) We have a large family & it was great to spend time w/ them! I also stayed very busy with cakes...so busy I didn't get a picture of every cake I did but here are the ones I have. I hope you like them...

Here is a very large musical note cake...great for any music lover.

These hand painted apple martinis pop against a bubblegum pink background. The cake is topped w/gumpaste olives for extra flair - sure to be the life of the party:)

This wedding cake & grooms cake go together. The color theme of the wedding continued as the couple cut the cake & revealed a lushious red velvet interior...yum! The groom is a reserve police officer so his bride ordered a Glock 40 hand gun for him - the guys really seemed to think it was cool!

Zebra stripes are great on any cake for any one at any age...personalize with your favorite colored accents.

The first of the year is always a little slower but I have some fun cakes lined up over the next few weeks so be sure to check them out later! Until next time........

November cakes...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!! Hope everyone had an amazing time w/ friends & family & took a moment to give thanks for our freedom! Here's what I've been up to in the cake world this month, not as crazy as October was but still super fun! Enjoy...

No, this isn't a plate of waffles...this is actually cake with fondant butter & a glaze made to look like syrup but taste like icing. Yum!!!

VW Bug cake made to look like the actual vintage bug the birthday boy drives.

Thomas the Tank Engine cookies & cake...all aboard!!!

What is more girlie than pink & black? Add some hot pink Gerber Daisies & a little zebra print & you're set :)

I made this cake for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. We had so much fun celebrating w/ friends & family

Cowboy hat cake + two sheet cakes for an anniversary party.

Cupcakes are so much fun for birthdays!!! The theme for this one was bright, brighter & brightest w/ a touch of flowers & sparkle :) Fun stuff!

Camo cake w/ baby booties was a cute idea for a baby boy shower!

I made this cake for our churches Thanksgiving dinner. No one believed it was cake :)

Write more in December!!!

October Cakes...

Whew! October was an awesome month for me! My cousin got married October 3rd & I was a brides maid.

My friend Kim (left) & me (right) in our dresses waiting for the wedding to start.

My hubby & I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on October 11th with a trip to Washington DC...it was AWESOME!!!

David & I fixing to go on our Capitol tour...

In the cake world I've noticed that as the Holiday Season draws closer I am getting busier & busier. I'm up so late tonight because I'm waiting to take cake out of the oven - as soon as this one's out I'm going to bed :)

It's taken me a while to post these...I hope you like them.

Volley Ball cake for the Green Forest Tiger Senior Night

I LOVE this one! I had never seen one like this until I got the order for it. I thought it was such a great idea! Perfect for a Bridal Shower.

My Father-In-Law has a unique method for hunting. He will go out in the woods, fall asleep under a tree & wake up to find a deer standing in front of him & shoot it. It's awesome! He ALWAYS gets a deer...the other guys aren't always so lucky :) This cake was a fun way to capture him in his glory.

I LOVE brides who order a special cake for their groom!!! The wedding cake turned out simple & elegant & he was so excited about his cake. I love happy customers :)

Retirement is such a happy occasion! Why not celebrate w/ cake?

The bank I worked for for 8 years celebrated their 12th birthday. This year they wanted a fall themed cake...I had so much fun making leaves & pumpkins!

What delicious colors! Chocolate brown, turquoise & and a super pale olive green...divine! Sure hope it doesn't fall completely off :)

Corset cookies & petite fours are an elegant touch for any lingerie shower.

My second recliner cake...it was a little easier than my first one but still extremely difficult. I think it turned out super cute! It's such a fun way to celebrate someone you love!

I've got some good ones lined up for November...not to mention THANKSGIVING!!!!!!! Until next time.....
